“For although I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit, and I delight to see your orderly condition and firm faith in Christ.” – Colossians 2:5

How can the apostle Paul, languishing in prison, be present with the children of God in distant Colossae? He is not merely saying, “I am thinking about you.” Rather, he is talking about a strong spiritual connection that is only possible through the fellowship of the Holy Spirit.

All of us who wholeheartedly believes in the Lord Jesus receives the Holy Spirit as a guarantee of our eternal salvation. The Spirit of God living within us testifies to our spirits that we are the children of God. Through the same Spirit that resides in each of us, we are connected in spirit to be one body that feels each other’s joys and pains. No chains or physical obstacle will be able to break the spiritual bond of God’s children, as long as they remain in His love.
