“Fathers, do not provoke your children, so they will not become discouraged.” – Colossians 3:21

There is no doubt that parents need to discipline their children to guide them in the right way. A lack of discipline will inevitably spoil a child and jeopardize their future. However, parents must be careful not to provoke their children out of selfish anger by using destructive words or actions that crush their confidence and damage their self-image.

Parents are stewards of the children God has entrusted to them. Children are not to be treated as property or slaves existing for their parents’ benefit. Instead, parents are called to train them in the right way, so that when they grow older, they will not depart from it and will be equipped to fulfil their life’s purpose. Therefore, parents, refrain from punishing your children out of personal frustration. Instead, discipline them with wisdom and love, preparing them to confidently face the challenges of this world, relying on God’s strength.
