“Bondservants, obey in everything those who are your earthly masters, not by way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord.” – Colossians 3:22

There are two types of employees in the world. The first type consists of those who appear hardworking under the direct supervision of their bosses but slack off when left on their own. Motivated by selfish gain, they have mastered the art of flattery and scheming. But sooner or later, their motives will come to light.

The second type of employees are those who work with sincerity of heart. Their motivation is the reverential fear of God rather than the favor of people. Aware of God’s constant presence, their behaviour remains the same whether their earthly boss is near or far. They may not always receive the credit they deserve, but that does not concern them, for they know that their ultimate reward comes from God.
