“In Him you were also circumcised, in the putting off of your sinful nature, with the circumcision performed by Christ and not by human hands. …” – Colossians 2:11

Circumcision was a sign of the covenant that God made with Abraham and his physical descendants (Genesis 17:9-11). Over the years, though the descendants were physically circumcised, their hearts remained wicked and distant from God. Indeed, like the rest of us, they were unable, through their own efforts, to put away the sinful desires of their flesh. 

Is your religion merely an external one? Are you immersed in physical traditions and rituals, yet enslaved to the sinful passions of your heart? Jesus Christ came to deliver you from the clutches of your sinful nature. He is the only skilful surgeon who can cut away the cancerous, sinful flesh. You can completely trust the One who gave His life for you. Invite Him into your heart to cut away all that enslaves you and prevents you from enjoying a life of true joy, peace, and happiness.
