When we come to know who God is, what He has accomplished for us and how much we need Him to make a difference in our lives, we will be devoted to prayer. We will stop being content with momentary, occasional prayers and make it the life sustaining anchor of our lives.
But we need to be watchful and alert in our prayer life. For there is much that can distract us from a life of prayer. We need to be alert to both God’s movement and the schemes that threaten us so that we can be specific and effective in our prayers. Finally, our prayers need to be done with an attitude of thankfulness. Even when answers seem delayed or unclear, gratitude will shift our focus from our pressing needs to God’s faithfulness. So in every circumstance, in every season, pray guided by the Spirit with devotion and thankfulness and you will witness the amazing grace of God in action.
