“…He taught as one who had authority, and not as the scribes.” – Mark 1:22

In the Bible, scribes were scholars of the Torah, primarily responsible for studying Scripture, copying sacred texts, and interpreting the Law. They also taught, drafted legal documents, and served as experts in Jewish law. Though they dedicated their lives to the study and teaching of God’s laws, they remained powerless to bring about true transformation in people’s lives.

When Jesus—the Word, the author of Scripture—came, He did not merely expound on someone else’s law or offer His own interpretation. Rather, He spoke with the authority of the One from whom the Word originates.  His words had the authority to bring spiritual, physical, mental and emotional healing.

When you allow Jesus to speak continually to your heart, His words will renew your mind, transform your character, and change the course of your life.
