“No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. If he does, the new piece will pull away from the old, and a worse tear will result.” – Mark 2:21

Jesus used the above illustration to demonstrate that the new life He offers is incompatible with our old ways of living. God is not interested in merely patching up your old nature—He desires to give you a new heart. What is corrupted by sin cannot be preserved by what is pure. You may be focused on covering the visible flaws—sealing the tears that others can see—without truly changing your lifestyle. But remember, every patch you apply is only temporary. Eventually, it will fall apart, leaving you exposed. 

As you consistently lay aside old habits and attitudes to embrace what God offers, you will experience daily renewal in His presence. You will no longer walk in shame but rejoice as He clothes you in His robe of righteousness. Stop trying to repair the old. Surrender it completely, and receive the new life that God offers in Christ.
