On the Sabbath, a man with a withered hand entered the synagogue where Jesus was teaching. His condition likely affected his work, his dignity, and his survival. Yet the people around him cared more about catching Jesus breaking Sabbath tradition than seeing a suffering man healed. Their hardened hearts grieved and angered Jesus.
Have our hearts grown just as cold? When we prioritize tradition over compassion, form over faith, we reflect a religion devoid of God’s love. A hardened heart resists the Spirit, dismisses God’s voice, and clings to sin under a mask of righteousness. Only God can soften a heart of stone. “Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.” (Hebrews 3:15) Turn from indifference. Let the Father, through Jesus, pour His love into your heart by the Holy Spirit. He will restore, renew, and make tender what has been calloused for so long.
