“Then He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected…that He must be killed and after three days rise again.” – Mark 8:31

At the height of His popularity, as crowds flocked to Him for healing and wisdom, Jesus shared a truth that stunned His disciples. Though Peter had just confessed that He was the Messiah, the Son of God, Jesus revealed that He must suffer, be rejected, and killed—but would rise again after three days.

This was not the path the disciples expected for their victorious King. Yet, it was God’s perfect plan. Our redemption came at a great cost—the precious sacrifice of Jesus. His mission was not earthly fame or popularity, but the salvation of our souls. The cross was not a tragic accident but the fulfilment of God’s love. Jesus bore our sins so that we might be justified and receive new life in Him. May we live each day in gratitude for His sacrifice and in hope of His resurrection power at work in us.
