The disciples marvelled at the splendour of Herod’s temple, its stones gleaming in the sun, yet Jesus gave a startling prophecy: every stone would one day fall. Forty years later, His words came true when the Romans destroyed Jerusalem.
This truth reminds us that everything earthly—no matter how impressive—has an expiration date. Cities rise and fall, empires crumble, and what seems unshakable today can become ruins tomorrow. Our eyes are easily drawn to what is grand and visible, yet Scripture calls us to fix our hearts on what is eternal. Paul reminds us, “What is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal” (2 Cor. 4:18). The worth of your soul surpasses any building or achievement. Invest in the Kingdom that cannot be shaken, for heaven and earth will pass away, but God’s promises remain forever.
