We live in a world that believes we always need to act quickly with aggression and force to get things done. They say to mount increasing pressure till the authorities give in. They say come in large numbers like an unruly mob and your thing will be done. But often this leads to only temporary changes and in fact it often makes matters worse.
Rather than acting out of impulse and rage and saying hurtful words we need to ask God to give us patience and perseverance in our interaction with people, especially those who are highly opinionated and stubborn. Also, as scripture says, let our gentleness be known to all. Let our speech always be seasoned with salt so that we may know how to answer others. The patience and gentleness that God gives can impact rulers and break down hard hearts.
