Isaiah’s words of judgment against Israel were sobering. God’s people, in turning away from Him, had pierced themselves with grief. The things they trusted for joy and safety only deepened their pain. Yet in the midst of their darkness, Isaiah spoke hope: a Deliverer would come, bringing an end to their despair. He would be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
That promise is fulfilled in Jesus Christ. He steps into our sorrow, scattering the gloom of shame, rejection, and fear. We no longer have to remain bound by distress, because His light shines even in the deepest darkness. Jesus is the Counsellor who gives wisdom and comfort to weary hearts. He is the Mighty God who breaks the grip of hopelessness. He is the Prince of Peace who secures our future with lasting hope. Lift your eyes to Him and let your gloom be replaced with joy.
