“My heart cries out over Moab….” – Isaiah 15:5

Isaiah paints a tragic scene as the nation of Moab falls under God’s judgment. Yet what stands out most is the prophet’s compassion: “My heart cries out over Moab.” Though Moab was often hostile to Isaiah’s own nation, he wept for them because he carried God’s own heart.

The prophet Isaiah’s heart and words reflect the Lord’s unchanging nature. As the Creator says in Ezekiel 33:11, “I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live.” God’s justice is certain, but His desire is always repentance, not ruin. When we witness others stumble and fall, we must guard our hearts against pride or condemnation. Instead, let us mirror God’s compassion — weeping for the lost, praying for their salvation, and remembering that His mercy longs to restore even the most wayward soul.
