“…I am wasting away! I am wasting away! Woe is me.” – Isaiah 24:16

oct17

You look alive on the outside, yet inside you fade away;

A smile lights your face, but your heart groans all day.

You chase a hundred paths to find joy and delight,

Yet at day’s end, your soul feels empty and dark as night.

Your pleasures and devices bring moments of cheer,

But they can’t erase the burdens you carry near.

Is there a way out of this endless descent?

An escape from a life of hollow content?

Once you were praised as the best in town,

Before the years began wearing you down.

The things that were once your strength and pride,

Now let you down and your soul is crushed inside.

But when one finds new life through Christ the Lord,

He’s freed from sin’s decay and the enemy’s word.

Though the outward frame may waste away,

The inward soul is renewed day by day.
