The children of Israel were slaves in Egypt for four hundred years,
In their helplessness, they cried out to God with wailing and tears;
With a strong hand and an outstretched arm, He set them free,
The mighty army of Pharoah drowned in the Red Sea.
Weak ones who had lost all hope of enjoying freedom,
Were transformed by God’s power into a mighty kingdom.
Are you shackled and oppressed by your bondage to sin?
Has the worries of this world taken a hold of your heart within?
Reach out and take a hold of the strong hand of the Saviour;
He will never let go of you, for His love endures forever;
For this Saviour willingly stretched out His arms to die for you;
Setting you free from the curse of sin and making you new;
Even today, Jesus with steadfast love extends His hand;
To guide us through this wilderness into His promised land.
