“…Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position…” – Romans 12:16

One of the signs of haughtiness in your life is the discomfort you feel when associating with people who are below you in rank and social standing. When we take pride in our worldly status, we feel it is beneath our dignity to fellowship with those of a lower social standing. Instead, we seize every opportunity to identify ourselves with the elite and influential circles, desiring to be acknowledged as one of them.

Let us not think of ourselves more highly than we ought to, but let us be sober in our judgment. Let us realize that we are all equal in the eyes of the Lord, for both the king and the beggar will perish unless they are saved by the grace of God. Furthermore, those of us who have been endowed with greater abilities will be expected to take up greater responsibilities in the service of God and people.
