The Father affirms His beloved Son with a voice from above,
While the Spirit descends on the Son like a gentle dove.
Yet, it was not to a place of comfort that the Son is lead,
But one of scorching heat, without water and bread.
Exhausted, hungry and thirsty, He is put to Satan’s test,
Surrounded by wild animals, this was no place of rest.
But never once did the Son grumble at His circumstance,
This was the Father’s will, He did understand.
One by one, Jesus brushed aside every temptation,
He came out victorious, strengthened for the next situation.
A loving God may not always lead you by gentle streams,
He may not grant all your desires or fulfil all your dreams.
Rather, it is through the dark valley and the wilderness
That He guides you to a place of purpose and fruitfulness.
