The Jewish leaders, lacking authority to execute Jesus, brought Him before the Roman governor, Pilate. Accusations poured in, yet Jesus remained silent—fulfilling Isaiah’s prophecy spoken centuries earlier: “He was oppressed and afflicted, yet He did not open His mouth… like a lamb to the slaughter” (Isaiah 53:7).
This was no ordinary silence. The eternal Word through whom all things were made—the very voice that spoke galaxies into existence—chose not to defend Himself. He could have commanded angels or silenced His accusers with a word, yet He stood still, bearing our guilt without protest. Why? So that one day, when you stand before the righteous Judge and the question is asked, “By what right may you enter My kingdom?”—you can answer with confidence: “By the blood of Jesus, shed for me, cleansing me from all my sin.” Jesus remained silent so that you may have an answer for eternity.
