“…Come with Me privately to a solitary place, and let us rest for a while…” – Mark 6:31

When Jesus sent His disciples out to preach, heal the sick, and cast out demons, they ministered with the authority He had given them. Their success drew crowds, leaving them with little time to rest. Yet Jesus, knowing the endless demands of ministry, called them away to a time of restful solitude.

Like the human heart that must relax to receive blood before pumping it out, we too must rest in order to be renewed. Without it, we risk burnout and emptiness. In our fast-paced lives, it’s easy to be consumed by constant activity, even in service to God. But if we want to truly pour out His love to others, we must first be filled ourselves. Resting in God’s presence is not wasted time—it is essential. Take time today to be still before Him. Let His love refill you. Then, from a place of overflow, you’ll be ready to bless others with renewed grace and strength.
