“Don’t let anyone condemn you by insisting on pious self-denial or the worship of angels, saying they have had visions about these things…” -Colossians 2:18

You may have encountered individuals who exude confidence and speak with authority about things that are false. Claiming to have seen visions from God, they manipulate people through deception and fear. Be wary of those who talk endlessly about visions but fail to expound on the Word of God. 

Do not be persuaded by self-proclaimed spiritual leaders who draw people to themselves through public demonstrations of piety and the proclamation of new and extraordinary revelations. Always compare what you are hearing with the Holy Spirit-inspired truth of the Scriptures. Do not fear those who claim you need to do extraordinary things to be accepted by God. For God saves you by His grace, not by your works, and He accepts you as His child through your faith in Christ.
