A Gentile woman came to Jesus, pleading for her daughter’s deliverance. In response, Jesus used an image of children at a table and dogs beneath it to reveal His primary mission—to bring salvation first to Israel. Yet, the woman’s reply showed remarkable faith: she believed even the crumbs of His power were enough. And she was right—her daughter was healed.
Though Jesus came as the fulfilment of God’s promises to Israel, His mission was ultimately to bless the nations. Through His death and resurrection, those once far from God have been brought near. We are no longer outsiders hoping for crumbs. In Christ, we are seated at the table, welcomed as children of God. This promise is not for a select few, but for all who call upon His name in faith. So, stop being satisfied with just some crumbs of material blessings, come and experience the ultimate joy of being a child of God.
