Isaiah’s cry, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon,” echoes through time and reappears in the final book of the Bible as a warning to every generation. Babylon was once the proud city that symbolized human rebellion against God — its roots traced back to the Tower of Babel, where humanity sought greatness apart from its Creator. Though the ancient city was destroyed, its spirit still lives on in the world system that defies God and exalts self.
Today’s “Babylon” thrives on pride, pleasure, and power — luring hearts through the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life (1 John 2:16,17). It promises satisfaction but delivers only emptiness. Yet, Scripture reminds us that this world and its desires are passing away, but those who do the will of God will live forever. When Babylon falls — as it surely will — may our hearts be found anchored not to the fleeting kingdoms of earth, but to the eternal kingdom of Christ.
