When a believer in Christ chooses to die to their earthly life, it does not mean they become some kind of zombie, oblivious to and unaffected by the happenings of this world. Instead, their worldview undergoes a profound paradigm shift. The things that once brought them pleasure and boosted their ego now pale in comparison to the things that matter to God.
To believe in Christ is to be united in fellowship with Him. As we abide in Him, our destinies become intertwined with His. Through the experience of our new life in Christ, we come to realize the futility of selfish ambition and self-indulgence. Our lives are now centred on the things that please God and bring glory to His name. Those who live for their own glory will find none in the life to come, but those who live for God’s pleasure will bask in His eternal glory.
