“Guard my instructions as you guard your own eyes.” – Proverbs 7:2

aug 29

Our eyes are among the most valuable and delicate organs of the body. They allow us to perceive the world, discern beauty, and recognize danger. Because of their sensitivity, God has designed protective barriers—eyelids, tears, lashes, and even the strong bony orbit—to shield them from harm. Instinctively, we guard our eyes, knowing how essential they are to life.

In the same way, God’s Word is vital to our spiritual sight. His instructions provide clarity in a confusing world, guiding us through dangers and pointing us toward opportunities that honor Him. But just as dust, debris, or harsh light can injure our eyes, the distractions, worries, and temptations of this life can cloud or choke out God’s Word if we are not vigilant. Therefore, let us treasure Scripture deeply, keeping it at the centre of our hearts. As we faithfully guard His Word, it will guard our steps and light our path.
