Demons are spiritual forces that seek to destroy, often through inhabiting and tormenting physical lives. In Mark 5, Jesus meets a man possessed by a legion of demons—tormented and isolated. It is intriguing to see that while Jesus commanded the demons to leave the man, He also permitted them to go into a herd of pigs.
God’s permission is not His approval. He allows evil to operate within boundaries He has set for His greater purpose. Though we may not always understand why God permits certain trials or evils, we can trust that He is always sovereign, always in control. If you’re facing injustice, hardship, or spiritual attack, remember: God has allowed it, not to harm you, but to refine you. His Spirit within you is greater than any darkness around you. He wants to use your life to bring others from darkness into light. Trust Him—He’s working it for your good and His glory.
