Jesus intended to take His weary disciples away for rest. But as they crossed the lake, the crowds rushed ahead and gathered before they even arrived. Rather than reacting with frustration, Jesus was moved with compassion. He saw their deep need—their shepherd-less state—and chose to feed their hungry souls with truth.
How do we respond when we’re exhausted and interrupted? Do we offer compassion or irritation? In our own strength, it’s difficult to care when we feel empty ourselves. But when Jesus lives in us, His grace enables us to see others not as burdens, but as opportunities to love like He does. He fills us with comfort and strength in our own weariness so that we can extend that same comfort to others in theirs. Today, ask Christ to let His compassion flow through you—especially when you have nothing left to give.
