“He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of His beloved Son.” – Colossians 1:13

In the realm of the unseen spiritual world, our spirit can either be dwelling under the reign of darkness or it could be basking in the light of God’s kingdom which dispels all darkness. As fallen sinful people, we are all born into the domain of darkness, captive to the sinful desires of our flesh which the forces of evil use to manipulate and control us. On our own there is no escaping the dominion of darkness. 

But in Christ Jesus, God carried out the greatest rescue mission known to mankind. While we were still helpless and enslaved in our spiritual darkness, God sent Jesus as the light of the world, to open our blinded eyes, break our chains of captivity to bring us into the joyful freedom of His eternal kingdom.
