Jesus gave His disciples practical training in spreading the message of the Kingdom. He sent them with authority to confront darkness, in pairs for mutual support, and with minimal possessions to avoid worldly distractions. Their mission required total dependence on God’s provision.
In our own lives, we often carry unnecessary burdens—worries, possessions, or habits—that distract us from God’s calling. We label them as “essentials,” yet they weigh us down and shift our focus from eternal purposes. Hebrews 12:1 urges us to “lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily entangles” so we can run the race God has marked out for us. Just as the disciples were told to travel light, we too are called to shed the extra baggage that hinders our spiritual journey. What’s holding you back today? Are you willing to let go of the distractions and trust God fully, so you can walk in His purpose?
