Jesus was not the first person to rise from the dead. There have been prior accounts, but they all eventually died again. Jesus is the only one who willingly gave up His Spirit and then came back to life, just as He had declared. His resurrection was witnessed by more than five hundred people, and He lives today, interceding for us at the right hand of the Heavenly Father.
Jesus’ victory over sin and death marked a new beginning for the eternal destiny of mankind. Through His death and resurrection, He established a path of eternal life for all who place their faith in Him. If Jesus intercedes for us with such power and love, it is to our benefit to give Him the preeminent position in our lives. When we surrender our lives to Him in faithful trust and obedience, we can be assured that we have chosen the best possible path of life.
