“He who is reproved, yet stiffens his neck, will suddenly be broken beyond healing.” – Proverbs 29:1

A material is called malleable when it can be shaped and pressed without cracking. But some materials resist every strike until they finally shatter. Scripture uses this truth to remind us of our spiritual condition. God, our loving Father, desires to shape us into the likeness of Christ. His discipline may feel painful, but it is never to destroy us—it is to refine us.

Hebrews tells us that though discipline is hard in the moment, it produces a harvest of righteousness for those who submit to it. Yet the one who stiffens his neck in pride and stubbornness resists God’s shaping hand. Such a heart, unmoved by correction, risks being broken beyond healing. Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your heart. Instead, surrender to His will. Allow Him to shape you into a vessel fit for His glory, and you will discover the peace and fruit of a life yielded to Him.
