We often categorize ourselves in various ways to forge an identity that we believe makes us superior to those around us. We take pride in our race, ancestry, traditions, religious practices, social status, upbringing, occupation, and more. Yet, these very things in which we place our pride are often the sources of division among us.
However, when we embrace the new self in Christ and allow Him to dwell in our hearts, we come to realize that Christ is all that truly matters. As the Apostle Paul profoundly expressed: “I count all things as loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.” (Philippians 3:8). When we fully realize the identity we have in Christ as children of God, we accept each other, celebrate our differences and be united as one body for the glory of God.
