Jesus knew what serious fasting meant. He Himself had fasted forty days, yet when He saw the crowd that had gone three days without food, His heart was moved. He didn’t rebuke them for their need or compare their weakness to His strength. Instead, He cared for them and sought a solution.
True compassion means recognizing the struggles of others without judgment. It means not measuring their weakness against our strength. Where we may walk easily, others may stumble. God calls us to see beyond our own abilities and feel for those who are weary and burdened. When we ask Him for a heart of compassion, He helps us reflect His love and kindness to those around us. May we, like Jesus, be quick to act with grace and mercy, not comparing, but caring—seeing people as He sees them, and seeking to serve their needs with humility and love.
