“…If anyone wants to follow after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.” – Mark 8:34

Jesus was willing to forsake His own comfort to fulfill the will of the Father and accomplish the great work of redemption through the cross. But Peter, like many of us, had other plans — plans shaped by self-promotion and self-preservation. Jesus made it clear to Peter, the disciples, and the crowds that true discipleship requires a radical choice: to stop living for oneself and to live for the One who gave His life for all.

What does it mean for you today to deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow Jesus? It means turning away from selfish desires and replacing them with a desire to please God. It means offering yourself as a living, holy sacrifice. It’s a call to lay down pride and ego and put on the humility of Christ. Your cross is that path of selfless love and service that God has prepared for you. Will you answer His call and live fully for His purpose?
