“If you cease to hear instruction, my son, you will stray from the words of knowledge.” – Proverbs 19:27

Relationships are treasures to be handled with great care. They can be strengthened through love and grace or torn apart through gossip and bitterness. Scripture reminds us that to “cover an offense” is not to excuse sin, but to extend forgiveness and refuse to dwell on the wrong. When we choose to overlook offenses in love, we imitate our Lord, who forgives us and remembers our sins no more.

On the other hand, when we “repeat a matter”—constantly rehearsing the wrong, speaking about it to others, or refusing to let it go—we drive wedges into our friendships. What could have been healed through grace becomes fractured by pride and unforgiveness. Today, the Spirit calls us to be peacemakers. Instead of exposing others’ failures, let us cover them in love. Instead of repeating offenses, let us release them. In doing so, we protect relationships and reflect Christ’s love to the world.
