When we consider clothing and food, they are essential necessities for every human being. To deny a person food and clothing is to deny their basic human rights. Yet, when we become self-indulgent, these very things, which were basic necessities, turn into indulgences and obsessions. Consequently, we become anxious when we do not get the food that suits our taste or the clothing that fits our body.
Do not be preoccupied with the necessities of life. Your Father in heaven knows that you need them, and He will provide what is necessary. Instead, seek the presence of God and commit yourself to knowing His ways. Those who chase after the pleasures and attractions of this world pierce themselves with many sorrows, but those who seek the Kingdom of God will find lasting righteousness, peace, and joy.
