We are totally incapable of producing genuine, Christlike love on our own. The standard of love expected of us is one that is not jealous, boastful, arrogant, self-seeking, easily provoked, or keeping an account of wrongs suffered. Instead, it is a love that is patient and kind, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things (1 Corinthians 13:4-7).
It is not humanly possible to consistently exhibit such love in our lives through our own strength or effort. You may wake up each day determined to love deeply in this manner, but unless the Spirit of God is in you, you will fail in your endeavour. However, when you abide in God through Christ, He will pour His love into your heart through His Spirit, enabling you to love others with deep sincerity and truth.
