From Paul’s letter to Philemon, we come to know a little of Onesimus’s background. He was a runaway servant, who stole from his master Philemon and fled. But while he was in Rome, he meets Paul and puts his faith in Jesus. He has a dramatic transformation in life. He goes on from being a thief to a faithful follower of God, a beloved brother and one involved in transforming other lives.
When Jesus is truly your saviour and Lord, there will be a transformation in your life. You don’t become perfect overnight but step by step you are transformed from one degree to the next into His likeness. If Christ is not changing your life in any way, you need to question His Lordship in your life. Transformation and maturation are not optional but rather they are integral to the life in Christ.
