God’s desire for us is that we please Him in every area of our lives: our thoughts, motives, words, and actions. Jesus gave Himself up completely for our sakes so that He may be our Lord, to whom we offer ourselves in complete surrender.
As children of God, we do not aim for a dichotomous life where one part serves God and the other indulges in sinful and selfish desires. We should not take satisfaction merely from the knowledge that our good works outweigh our bad ones. What God requires is that we constantly abide in Him so that we are filled with His strength and wisdom to please Him in every aspect of our lives, demonstrating faithfulness and obedience in every good work.
