God loves us and He proved it by sending Jesus as our redeeming sacrifice. Yet God is holy, and He cannot dwell in fellowship with those who persist in sin, who take pleasure in wickedness, defend wrongdoing, and refuse to turn from their wicked ways. It is only when we hate our sinfulness, acknowledge our wretchedness, and hunger for His righteousness that we make room for the transformative power of His love in our lives.
Jesus is the Light of the world, come to dispel the darkness within us. But His light cannot shine deeply into hearts that cling to deceit and hypocrisy and justifies their wrongdoing. Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your heart as you have in the past. Behold, today is the day of salvation. As He searches your heart and reveals the darkness within, do not turn away. Come as you are, broken and wretched, open your hearts and make straight paths for the Lord.
