The book of Proverbs, largely penned by King Solomon, highlights the wisdom God granted him. Solomon was unmatched in understanding and knowledge, admired for his authority in many fields. Yet, despite his brilliant beginning, his heart turned astray. His love for foreign women and luxury slowly replaced his reverence for God. In the end, he looked back on his choices with regret, calling much of his life “vanity.”
Like Solomon, we may be praised for knowledge, success, or worldly wisdom. But without a humble fear of God, such wisdom crumbles. Human pride resists His correction, despises His discipline, and rejects His counsel. What appears wise in the world’s eyes ultimately leaves the soul empty. True joy, satisfaction, and lasting contentment are found only in revering God. The search for wisdom begins not with intellect, but with surrender to the living Creator.
