Jesus repeatedly exhorted His disciples to humble themselves as little children. Now little children in their own little worlds have their own share of troubles. But it is rare to see a little one persistently bothered by an argument or distressed about an upcoming challenge. Though their sorrow may last for a moment, it is soon replaced by joy when they are comforted by their parents.
Those who are driven by pride, ego and status are always under constant pressure to maintain their position in the eyes of the world, while those who humble themselves in the sight of the Lord, and in humility consider others better than themselves are released from this burden. To humble yourself before God is to faithfully wait for Him to act on your behalf. In the midst of your challenges, as you patiently do His will, He will fill you with fresh joy.
