For centuries, the Jewish people longed for the promised Messiah who would deliver them from their sins and their enemies. Jesus declared this good news that God’s appointed time to fulfill His promise to humanity had arrived. Yet, this promise of the reign of God would need to take root within the hearts of people.
We are all born as slaves in the kingdom of darkness, under the dominion of the prince of darkness. We are powerless to escape his deception, which ensnares us in the desires of our flesh and the schemes of this fallen world. Yet, Jesus beckons us to establish the reign of God within our hearts—to dispel the darkness dwelling inside us. His kingdom is one of righteousness, peace, and joy. But are you willing to repent of your old ways and put your trust in the One who alone can free you from the clutches of the darkness ruling your heart?
