“…they are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh.” – Colossians 2:23

Jesus did not hide His displeasure with the religious leaders of His time. They displayed an outward appearance of piety, self-denial, and strict discipline, while scorning anyone who failed to emulate their example. Yet, despite their rigorous adherence to regulations and traditions, they were unable to overcome the evil desires within their hearts.

How can one conquer the sinful inclinations of the heart? If your primary desire is to appear righteous before others, you will remain focused on external rules and regulations. If your sole aspiration is to receive God’s material blessings, you will confine yourself to a set of prescribed practices, hoping for a reward in return. However, when you embrace Christ as the greatest treasure of your heart, He transforms you from within. This profound change enables you to follow Him wholeheartedly, both in public and in private.
