For most of the time that Jesus walked with His disciples, they saw His human nature. They witnessed His servant leadership, compassion, and deep humility. Even when He performed miracles, Jesus avoided drawing attention to Himself. But as the disciples faced a difficult road ahead, they needed a glimpse of His divinity to strengthen their faith. So, six days later, Jesus took Peter, James, and John up a mountain, where they witnessed His glory—a glory far greater than even Moses or Elijah.
In our own journey, familiarity with Jesus should never dull our sense of His majesty and power. He is not just the way, but the truth, and the life as well. He holds the keys of heaven and hell—and He is coming again to judge the world. Blessed is the one who experiences the fullness of this truth before tasting death.
