“…what is the basis of this confidence of yours?” – Isaiah 36:4

Sennacherib, the proud king of Assyria, mocked Judah’s trust in the Lord. Having conquered many nations, he now fixed his gaze on Jerusalem. Through his messengers, he taunted God’s people, seeking to crush their spirit and shake their faith. This was a defining moment—a test of whether Judah would trust in the Lord’s power or surrender in fear to their enemy.

Our faith is proven in such moments. Proverbs 24:10 warns that if we faint in the day of adversity, our strength is small. True confidence is not built on our strength, our plans, or our resources—it rests solely on God. When He is our refuge and strength, our hearts remain steady even when the enemy roars. But when our confidence shifts to ourselves, we become unstable, like waves tossed by the storm. Let your confidence today be grounded in the unchanging character of God—your deliverer, your defence, and your unfailing strength.
