God’s Word is not meant to be a mere ritual or a duty we rush through and forget. It is living, active, and powerful. The writer of Proverbs urged the young man to treasure the words of God that had been planted in his heart. When the Word is embraced with faith and obedience, it becomes a lamp to our feet, showing us the next step, and a light to our path, revealing the right way to go.
Too often, we miss the power of God’s word in our lives because our reading is habitual without any real conviction. But when we cling to it eagerly, the Word becomes our constant companion. It steadies us in the night, silencing accusing thoughts. It guards our hearts in rest. And when we awake, it speaks life and wisdom, guiding us into God’s will.
